Photos of roadside warbirds and museum collections are most welcome. Photos of aircraft as they are currently displayed are great, but photos of airframes in previous markings, with past owners or during a restoration are fantastic as well. You can help document the history of airframes with photos!

Airframe: Stitts SA-2A Sky Baby, c/n 1, c/r N5K
Notes: 2010 photo whilst on loan to the EAA Museum at Oshkosh -With a wingspan of just over 7 feet and a length of under 10 feet, she was smaller than your typical Persian rug. However, despite or because of its diminutive stature, the 1952 85-hp craft took a great deal of strength and experience to fly.

Airframe: Consolidated PBY-6A Catalina, s/n 64064 USN, c/n 2134, c/r N24VP
Notes: CF-IZZ at Winnipeg on 4Sep73 -
Still carrying Protection Civile titles (where it was F-ZBAZ) is this PBY-6 water bomber. The tricky thing is it has been built (or re-built) with the smaller PBY-5 tail. In 1992 it was exported to Spain where it became EC-FMC with SAESA. No longer in service and apparently under restoration.

Airframe: Cessna 120, c/n 09186, c/r N90125
Notes: N90125 at Winnipeg on 31Mar73 -
The 1946 Cessna 120 has no flaps and no cabin side windows which distinguishes it from the 140 of the same era. Just to sow confusion, some owners have retro-fitted the windows and installed 140 wings. This one has been registered to the same person in Minot/ND for the past 40 years.

Airframe: Convair CV-240-0, c/n 240-115, c/r N300GR
Notes: N300BP at Winnipeg on 23Apr72 -
Originally built for American Airlines in 1948, this Convair 240 has a RH stair/door, applicable to the Type A fuselage, in an era when standardisation had not been thought of. In 1980 it took off from Daytona Beach/FL at more than 7000 lbs over gross then crashed when an engine caught fire.

Notes: CF-MAE at Winnipeg on 26Apr72 -
A Manitoba Government Air Service Cessna Super Skymaster in their red/white/yellow livery. Possibly an early example of this type being used as a bird-dog for water bombers. New in 1971, they sold it in 1984 and currently (2015) based in Alberta.

Notes: CF-ZQX at Winnipeg on 3Jun71 -
Ilford-Riverton Airways first foray into the Curtiss Commando was this 1945 built C-46F which was previously with Zantop as N614Z. Acquired in Feb/71 but by Jun/72 it had moved on. Later, in the 1980s, they came back to these machines in a big way.

Airframe: Cessna 195A Businessliner, c/n 7771, c/r CF-GLG
Notes: CF-GLG at Winnipeg on 20Aug70 -
In 1950 Cessna ran out of Jacobs engines to power the model 195. Until further supplies were obtained, customers could furnish their own used engines for installation in new airframes and these were designated 195A as here. This 1952 example went into registration limbo in about 1976 but happily is back with us as of June 2015.

Airframe: Consolidated-Canadian Vickers Canso A, s/n 9750 RCAF, c/n 427, c/r N206M
Notes: CF-DIL at Winnipeg on 6 Aug 70 -
The massive wings of the PBY-5 are apparent in this shot. Ilford-Riverton Airways utilised their tankage capacity to haul heating oil up north. During summer, tourist anglers became the cargo, hence the nose inscription The Fishermans Special. This shot is before blister windows were installed for the benefit of those pax.
