During summer, tourist anglers became the cargo, hence the nose inscription The Fishermans Special. This shot is before blister windows were installed for the benefit of those pax. |

Notes: 1986 photo at Dryden ON - Originally built for the RCAF in 1943, this PBY-5A Canso once flew with Ilford-Riverton Airways in Winnipeg as the Fishermans Special. It still had the big blister windows on the rear fuselage and IRA installed ex-Air Canada Viscount seats for the pax. Here in service as a water bomber with Awood Air of Victoria/BC, it went to Spain in 1993, then to the US in 1996 where it has lived an interersting life and is under rebuild as of 2010 |
