Photos of roadside warbirds and museum collections are most welcome.
Photos of aircraft as they are currently displayed are great, but photos of airframes in previous markings, with past owners or during a restoration are fantastic as well. You can help document the history of airframes with photos!

    Airframe: Lockheed Vega
Notes: Abandoned Lockheed Vega (Replica) - Aviator Health Club - Floyd Bennett Field, New York - This full-scale replica of a Lockheed Vega served as an advertising icon for a local health club. By the time I saw it, in 2009, it was off its display pole. A more recent photo shows mangled bits and pieces at the HARS Museum; I do not think it exists anymore.

    Airframe: Sikorsky HH-3F Pelican, s/n 1434 USCG, c/n 61-599
Notes: Sikorsky HH-3F Pelican (1434) - The HH-3F is the Naval version of the venerable S-61R. This example, shiny on the outside, is being restored on the inside, as well.

    Airframe: Grumman S-2E Tracker, s/n 151664 USN, c/n G-121-197C
Notes: Grumman S-2E Tracker (151664) - Unwanted and unloved, this poor tracker was first evicted from the Intrepid Air and Space Museum, to the Cradle of Aviation Museum, which did not have the space. The US Navy dumped her at Floyd Bennett Field, but in transit she has been torn apart so badly that any restoration is beyond the ability of the talented Historic Aircraft Restoration Project. So she sits on a weed-choked backlot, awaiting her fate.

    Airframe: Boeing KC-97G-27-BO Stratofreighter, s/n 52-2718 USAF, c/n 16749, c/r N117GA
Notes: The Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation rescued this aircraft from one of the boneyards and repainted it to represent 45-56595 - a YC-97 that actually served in the Berlin Airlift. The foundation, though based in New Jersey, leases space in the giant hangar at historic Floyd Bennett Field, Brooklyn, NY.

Notes: Beech C-45F Expeditor (Bu90536 - 66-47109 -N9659) The National Museum of the Marine Corps has loaned this aircraft to the Historic Aircraft Restoration Project at Floyd Bennett Field, Brooklyn, NY, where a group of dedicated volunteers are painstakingly - with tiny paintbrushes one associates with model aircraft - restoring this beauty to her former glory.

Notes: Grumman G-21A Goose (N644R - Bu87736) - The Historic Aircraft Restoration Project, Floyd Bennett Field, Brooklyn, NY, restored this aircraft to taxy condition and painted her in the colors of the New York City Police, which still operates rescue flights from this site, though nowadays using helicopters
