Notes: President Harry S. Truman paid a visit to San Francisco sometime in 1951. Here he deplanes after landing at Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco. The Presidents aircraft, a Douglas VC-118, was named The Independence after the Presidents hometown. Note the eagles head painted across the forward fuselage and the tail feathers painted on the aircrafts tail.

Notes: This was taken at an airshow many, many years ago. My dad passed away in 1987 and my mom sold the plane. I had lots of memories in this plane (i.e. flying to Colorado every summer).

Notes: This Douglas DC-5 was built in 1939, ordered by British Airways - but with the outbreak of WWII - the order was cancelled and taken up byKLM, Netherlands and allocated registration PH-AXB as photograhed by Harry S Gann in 1940 soon after rollout at Mines Field, Los Angeles - however Netherlands had been invaded by Germany and the aircraft was never delivered - but instead transferred to KLM West Indies Division and allocated registration PJ-AIZ for its delivery to Curacao via Miami. In the 1960s the aircraft was broken up at Tel Aviv, Israel
