    The first production T.8 Hunter built for the Royal Navy

    First flight.

    30 July 1958

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Royal Navy with s/n XL580.

    Transferred to Station Flight, RNAS Lossiemouth.

    8 November 1958

    Transferred to 764 NAS, RNAS Lossiemouth.
    Operated with markings: 701

    March 1962

    Transferred to Station Flight, RNAS Yeovilton.
    Operated with markings: 946, VL
    Was later re-finished in a very attractive blue and white colour scheme, as it became an Admirals Barge - the Flag Officer of Flying Trainings personal aeroplane.

    Carried out by 5 MU, RAF Kemble.

    Transferred to 759 NAS, RNAS Brawdy.

    Transferred to Fleet Requirements and Air Direction Training Unit, RNAS Yeovilton.

    Transferred to 5 MU, RAF Kemble.
    For maintenance.

    September 1974

    Transferred to Fleet Requirements and Air Direction Training Unit, RNAS Yeovilton.

    To British Aerospace.

    20 September 1978

    Converted to a Hunter T.8M.
    Selected for conversion to T.8M specification, which included a Sea Harrier styled cockpit to be fitted and a Blue Fox radar unit added into the nose.

    5 August 1981

    The aeroplane was ferried to Boscombe Down on 5th August 1981, and employed on flight trials before returning to the Fleet Air Arm.
