    Constructed as a P-38L-5-LO by Lockheed at Burbank, California, USA.

    Circa 1944

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n 44-53059.

    From June 1946 to 1947

    Assigned to War Assets Administration, Kingman, AZ for storage.

    Circa 1946

    Certificate of airworthiness for NX69800 (8437) issued.

    To Anderson Air Activities, Milbranka, WI with new c/r N69800.

    From 30 August 1946 to 2 September 1946

    Raced as #58.
    The race was from Van Nuys, CA, to Cleveland. Competed at the National Air Races Cleveland in the Bendix Reciprocating Division race. The primary pilot was M W Fairbrother. Raced in the B Feature race. Finished in 16th place with an average speed of 325.295 mph.

    From 1947 to 1949

    To Hugh I. Wells keeping c/r N69800.

    Ferry flight.
    Flown to Peru by Wells for engine tests. The intended use for the airframe was to collect data on the operation of Allison Engines with Curtiss Electric propellers at high altitudes. The intent was to obtain CAA approval for use of this engine and prop combination in commercial aircraft.

    February 1948

    Permit to operate in Peru issued.

    From 1949 to 1956

    To Walker Elizabeth, Miami, FL keeping c/r N69800.

    Circa 1949

    Possibly abandoned in Peru. Also reported sold to the Bolivian Government.

    15 March 1956

    Civil registration, N69800, cancelled.
