    Deployed to Japan.

    Ardmore AFB, OK.

    From October 1956 to August 1957

    Transferred to Birmingham Modification Center, AL.

    From 1956 to By 1957

    Converted to a C-119J.

    September 1957

    Transferred to 2465th Air Reserve Flying Center (Air Force Reserve), Minneapolis-Saint. Paul Airport, MN.

    December 1957

    Transferred to 2473rd Air Reserve Flying Detachment (AFRES), Minneapolis-Saint. Paul Airport, MN.

    August 1958

    Transferred to Fairchild Aircraft, Saint. Augustine Airport, FL.
    Conversion to G standard propellers.

    19 September 1958

    Transferred to 6593rd Test Squadron (Air Research and Development Command), Edwards AFB, CA.

    From September 1958 to November 1959

    Specially modified for the mid-air retrieval of space capsules re-entering the atmosphere from orbit.

    From December 1959 to Circa October 1960

    6593rd T.S. deployed to Hickam AFB, HI.

    19 August 1960

    From NMUSAF: Made the worlds first midair recovery of a capsule returning from orbit when it snagged the parachute lowering the Discoverer XIV satellite at 8,000 feet altitude, 360 miles southwest of Honolulu, Hawaii.

    July 1961

    Transferred to 434th Troop Carrier (M) Wing (AFRES), Bakalar AFB, IN.

    May 1962

    Transferred to 931st Troop Carrier (M) Wing (AFRES), Bakalar AFB, IN.

    November 1963

    Ferry flight. Delivered to National Museum of the United States Air Force, Wright Field, Dayton, OH.
    Flown to Wright Field to await opening of new museum facility.
