    Constructed as a 17 (replica).
    Built by American amateur airplane-maker Carl R. Swanson as a flying replica.

    1963

    To National Aviation Museum.

    Markings Applied: 5-C, B1556
    Painted as the airplane in which the famous Canadian ace William Avery Billy Bishop earned the Victoria Cross.

    May 1967

    First flight.
    Wing Commander Paul A. Hartman took the aircraft on its first flight at Rockcliffe airport.

    30 June 1972

    To National Museum of Science and Technology, Ottawa, ON with new c/r CF-DDK.

    1989

    Crashed.
    At Abbotsford International Air Show.

    Restored.
    National Aviation Museums restoration team rebuilt the aircraft to its current state.

    1 September 1992

    To National Museum of Science and Technology, Ottawa, ON with new c/r CF-DDK.

    1 September 1992

    Operated by NATIONAL AVN MUSEUM.
