    Involved in an incident.
    Summarized NTSB narrative from report number NYC68F0133: There were no fatalities. Incident occurred at 11:30 hours. The airframe was destroyed. Incident occurred at the Pottstown Airport, Pottstown, PA. Suffered a hard landing on touch down. Collided with a parked aircraft during the landing rollout. Report remarks include: Parked acft, piper N5878D destroyed, mooney N2579W substantial. Also struck t hangar.

    Raced as #81, named Precious Metal.
    Competed at the California National Air Races in the Unlimited class. The primary pilot was Gary Levitz. Qualified in 7th place with an average speed of 370.01 mph. Did not start in the Consolation race. Raced in the Trophy race. Finished in 5th place with an average speed of 355.97 mph. Broke a prop seal at the start of the Silver Race.

    Raced as #81, named Precious Metal.
    Competed at the California National Air Races in the Unlimited class. The primary pilot was Gary Levitz from Scottsdale, AZ. Qualified in 3rd place with an average speed of 386.363 mph. Raced in the Championship race. Finished in 2nd place with an average speed of 376.349 mph. Pylon cuts.

    From 26 February 1979 to 4 March 1979

    Raced as #09, named Precious Metal.
    Competed at the Homestead Florida in the Unlimited class. The primary pilot was Don Whittington from Fort Lauderdale, FL. Qualified in 2nd place with an average speed of 379.518 mph. Raced in Heat 1 Silver. Finished in 1st place with an average speed of 377.301 mph. Raced in Heat 2 Bronze. Finished in 1st place with an average speed of 373.499 mph. Raced in the Gold Semi-Final race. Finished in 5th place with an average speed of 384.556 mph. Actually finished in 2nd place in the Gold Final Race but was penalized for cutting Pylon 6 on Lap 10 and dropped to 5th place.

    From 1984 to 1987

    Obtained the hulk.

    Was used in the rebuild of USAAF s/n 45-11558 c/r N6175C.
