Graham Kelley comments (26 July 2019): I played on this jet at Mustang Park as a kid in the 70s. I could not believe how pristine this jet now appears after witnessing the damage inflicted to the airframe by thousands of children climbing all over every square inch of the skin for decades, not to mention the steel threaded stock driven through the skin and secured with nuts around the intakes and exhaust, making it look like a jail cell to prevent entry. The cockpit was filled to the sill with concrete. It now looks factory fresh, complete with every instrument, switch, and lever. The restoration staff members at the museum are simply masterful! |
