    Constructed as a Vulcan B.2.

    3 September 1963

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Royal Air Force with s/n XM598.

    4 September 1963

    Transferred to No. 12 Squadron, RAF Coningsby.

    29 April 1982

    Ferry flight.
    At the start of the Falklands Island Conflict the first two Vulcans, XM598 and XM607 departed Waddington on a non-stop flight to Ascension Island.

    17 December 1982

    Withdrawn from use.
    At end of Conflict aircraft withdrawn from use and stored at RAF Waddington pending disposal.

    20 January 1983

    Ferry flight. Delivered to Royal Air Force Museum, Cosford, Cosford, Shropshire, England.
    Flown to the museum for display.

    Moved into new National Cold War Exhibition building at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford.
