    Crashed.
    Summary: The airframe was destroyed. There were 17,427 hours on the airframe at the time. It was a local fire fighting flight from Santa Ana-John Wayne International Airport, CA (SNA/KSNA), United States of America. The accident occurred at San Vincente Reservoir, CA (United States of America) while maneuvering. Narrative: The pilot had returned to the San Vicente reservoir after his third water bombing run and was in the process of scooping another load of water. The speed at touchdown was between 70 and 75 knots, with a left quartering tailwind blowing from 3 to 5 knots...

    The wrecked fuselage, wings and parts were moved to Pima.

    A restoration for static display was planned using the fuselage of N10609 and an unidentified Canso A hulk from a farm in Geneseo, NY.

    The unidentiifed hulk was moved from Geneseo to the Pima museum.
