    Taken on Strength/Charge with the South African Air Force with s/n 6888.

    10 December 1985

    Crashed.
    Summary: The damage to the airframe was substantial. It was a local military flight from Swartkop Air Force Base (FASK), South Africa. The accident occurred at near Swartkop Air Force Base (South Africa) while en route. The airframe was repaired. Narrative: On 10 December 1985 a total of 12 SAAF Douglas C-47 transport planes from 44 Sqn were detailed to do a formation practice for the upcoming flypast celebrating the types 50th Anniversary. The 12 aircraft did a streamer take off and then formed into three sections of four aircraft...

The accident occurred at 3,7 km (2. 3 mls) E of Lanseria Airport (HLA) (South Africa) while en route. The airframe was repaired. Narrative: The Douglas C-47 owned by the SAA Historic Flight flew to Lanseria (HLA) to carry out a sightseeing flight...
