    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Air Force with s/n 53-4296.

    Transferred to 55th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing, Forbes AFB, KS.
    Conducted high-risk Top Secret ELINT missions over Soviet Airspace.

    29 December 1967

    Assigned to MASDC, Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ for storage.
    Last operational B-47 type.

    16 July 1968

    To North American Aviation, Inglewood, CA.
    Bailed to N.A. for tests of the Forward Looking Advanced Multimode Radar (FLAMR).

    From July 1968 to 1976

    Used as radar test bed for F-111A, nose being replaced by F-111-like nose for testing by Air Force Avionics Laboratory. From August 1972 to March 1976, the plane flew 72 times. Normal crew was 6; 2 pilots and 4 flight test engineers. Most tests were flown over the San Joaquin Valley in central California, where the terrain was relatively flat.
