    Notes: This Douglas DC-5 was built in 1939, ordered by British Airways - but with the outbreak of WWII - the order was cancelled and taken up byKLM, Netherlands and allocated registration PH-AXB as photograhed by Harry S Gann in 1940 soon after rollout at Mines Field, Los Angeles - however Netherlands had been invaded by Germany and the aircraft was never delivered - but instead transferred to KLM West Indies Division and allocated registration PJ-AIZ for its delivery to Curacao via Miami. In the 1960s the aircraft was broken up at Tel Aviv, Israel

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n 41-0426.
    It is reported the airframe was allocated temporary USAAF serial 41-426 as a book-keeping exercise applied to transport aircraft taken over by USAAF in Australia in this period. This serial number may not have been officially assigned as this number falls in a range of USAAF serials assigned to a block of North American AT-6s. Used in the evacuation of Java.

    1942

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Royal Australian Air Force with s/n VH-CXC.
    RAAF used this c/r as their s/n.

    1943

    Redesignated as C-110-DE.

    1943

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n 44-83232.

    December 1945

    To Australian National Airlines with new c/r VH-ARD.

    By 1948

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Israeli Defense Force with s/n 1501.

    Crashed.
    Summary: The airframe was written off. This was a military flight. The accident occurred at Ramat David Air Base (Israel) while landing. Narrative: Damaged beyond repair in hard landing. Became ground instructional airframe.

    1955

    Scrapped.

    Calvin Johnson comments (5 November 2023): Said to be moved to a childrens playground in Tel Aviv as its final resting place.
