    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Navy with BuNo 14693.

    Was to be assigned to the Royal Navy with s/n KD262 but was not delivered.
    Retained by Goodyear.

    Raced as #94.
    Competed at the National Air Races Cleveland in the Thompson Trophy Reciprocating Division race. The primary pilot was Richard Becker. Qualified in 2nd place with an average speed of 400.941 mph. Raced in the B Feature race. Finished in 2nd place with an average speed of 390.133 mph.

    Notes: Cook Clelands good buddy Dick Becker would fly F2G number 94 at the 1947 Cleveland Air Races. It was a beautiful red and white finish.

    The most significant modification for the 1948 racing season were the clipped wings. Cool Cleland took the wings from his FG-1, clipped them and replaced the fabric covering with aluminum.

    Competed at the National Air Races Cleveland in the Thompson Trophy race. The primary pilot was Cook Cleland. Qualified in 2nd place with an average speed of 417.424 mph. Started the One Mile Course race, but did not finish. Out on lap 5 when a backfire blew off the engine cowl. A backfire had blown off the engine cowl.

    Airframe burnt for fire practice, then buried.

    The engine, propellar and cowling survived and were transferred to the Fred Crawford Aviation and Auto Museum in Cleveland.
