Notes: This occurred at Fort Frances, Rainy Lake, Ontario in June/July 1969.Not sure if this is the same #516 but from the first registration date I assume it is and the rebuild looks great.

    1969

    Photographer: Ian White
Notes: I was working for Rusty Myers Flying Services in 1969 and refuelled this aircraft which was on floats. There were 3 persons on board 2 male 1 female. On departure the aircraft taxied downwind some distance and turned into wind which was westerly. We watched with some interest, my Chief Pilot included, and we all commented that there wasnt enough room. We saw the aircraft leave the water and then settle a couple of times.now getting really close to our dock. It rose for the third time to maybe 50 feet and stalled, dropped a wing and cartwheeled. We ran for the rescue boat and were alongside the wreckage very quick. The two passengers were alreadyin the water so we hauled them into the boat. The pilot was sitting on top of the aircraft barely wet and we got him into the boat also. I took these photos a day or so after the aircraft was hauled up on our ramp. From memory it was the RCMP who were delegated to investigate and we all gave our statements to them.
