    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n 43-22649.

    To unknown owner with c/r N99218 (A-26B, 4322649A).

    Converted to a B-26K by On Mark Engineering at Van Nuys, CA, USA.

    Circa 1964

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Air Force with s/n 64-17657 and operated with these markings: IF-657.
    Assigned to the 605th Air Commando (Composite) Squadron (AF Southern Command) at Howard AFB, Panama.

    To unknown owner with c/r N62104.

    By August 1977

    To Wally McDonnell with new c/r N99218.

    Notes: On Mark Engineering modified 40 USAF Invaders as strengthened B-26K Counter Invaders, redesigned A-26A, for SE Asia. A-26A N99218 ex 67-17657 was at Mojave, California in September 1977 still in tactical camouflage with rocket rails.Owned by experienced warbird operator Wally McDonnell, it crashed on approach to Chino the following year

    Summarized NTSB narrative from report number LAX78FUG16: There were no fatalities. Incident occurred at 13:00 hours. The airframe was destroyed. Incident occurred at the Chino Airport, Chino, CA. The flight departed from Mojave, CA, with the destination Chino, CA. There was an unspecified incident while on final approach to land. Experienced an uncontrolled collision with terrain on touch down. Report remarks include: Nr 2 prop went into reverse thrust for undetermined reason.

    Notes: 64-17657/IF - B-26K Counter Invader - ex-US Air Force - Chino / Unlimited AIrcraft - The former 43-22649 crashed on approach to Chino in February 1978 when registered N99218 and was retained for spares recovery. The forward fuselage of this aircraft was imported into England in 1986 to assist in the restoration of A-26C 44-34172. Nose section displayed at Wings Museum, Balcombe, East Sussex, UK
