    Constructed as a Spitfire I.
    Built at Eastleigh, Southampton. This was the 155th Spitfire built by Supermarine at Southhampton.

    21 April 1939

    First flight.

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Royal Air Force with s/n K9942.

    24 April 1939

    Transferred to 72 (Basutoland) Squadron, RAF Church Fenton.

    Flew thirty-two operational sorties with 72 Squadron before the Battle of Britain.

    Assigned to a number of RAF Squadrons.

    Placed in storage.

    New serial number assigned: 8383M RAF
    Maintenance Serial.

    November 1971

    To RAF Museum.

    Restored.
    The work was carried out by the Medway Aircraft Preservation Society. Marked as originally delivered in 1939.
