    Constructed as a DC-3-227B.

    24 February 1940

    To American Airlines with new c/r NC21793.
    Operated with markings: Flagship Texas

    Circa 1942

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n 42-57506 as a C-49H-DO.

    22 May 1942

    Transferred to DSC.

    1942

    Used in Alaska for troop movements and Air/Sea Rescue duties as a flare ship.

    1944

    Struck off Strength/Charge from the United States Army Air Force.

    1944

    To American Airlines with new c/r NC21793.
    Returned to American Airlines but sat with her military paint still adorned.

    To Foreign Domestic Aircraft, Renton, WA with new c/r N21793.

    FDA replaced the Wright engines with P and W 1830s and put her up for sale.

    1949

    To Trans Alaska Airlines keeping c/r N21793.
    Flew the Seattle, WA, to Anchorage, AK, route.

    Engines were converted to 1830-92s.

    1952

    To Queen Charlotte Airlines, Vancouver, BC with new c/r CF-HCF.
    This was the first DC-3 to be owned and operated by a British Columbia Airline. Frequently carried fresh produce in the passenger compartment.

    4 June 1953

    To Trans-Alaskan Air Lines Inc, Seattle 8, WA with new c/r N21793.

    12 June 1953

    Civil registration, N21793, cancelled.

    Notes: With Queen Charlotte Airlines at Port Hardy, BC ca 1958

    22 January 1959

    To Pacific Western Airlines, Vancouver, BC with new c/r CF-PWH.
    Operated with markings: fleet #301
    Operated in the Pacific North-West.

    1968

    Leased to Great Northern Airways, Edmonton.
    Great Northern went into bankruptcy.

    Stored at Vancouver.

    To Trans Provincial, Terrace, BC with new c/r C-FPWH.

    1972

    Abandoned.
    Stripped of all useful parts and pushed into the bush and abandoned. The Trans Provincial hangar burnt down and operational parts were lost.

    1979

    To Friends, the DC-3, Canada.

    Transported by ground. Delivered to British Columbia Transportation Museum, Cloverdale, BC.
    The skeletal remains were salvaged and moved to the museum.

    1987

    Recovered.
    With the assistance of a number of businesses the remains were salvaged.

    Restoration started.
    Markings Applied: Spirit of the Skeena
    Restored to static display condition.

    To The Canadian Museum of Flight, Langley, BC.

    Restoration completed.
    Harry Jensen comments: Today, CF-PWH is a part of the small but neat Canadian Museum of Flight at Langely Municipal Airport. Thanks to ever so many great people who lent a helping hand, supplied direly needed parts n pieces and most of all, fantastic moral support.

    Notes: The Spirit of the Skeena has been re-located to the other side of the airport at Langley, BC. and sits in a little park which inconveniently has no parking spaces.
