    May 1964

    Constructed as a Kestrel FGA.1 by Hawker Siddeley at Dunsfold.
    Built for service evaluation of the jump jet concept.

    17 February 1965

    First flight.
    Flown at Dunsfold.

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Royal Air Force with s/n XS695.

    16 February 1966

    Transferred to Blind Landing Experimental Unit (BLEU), Royal Aircraft Establishment, Bedford.
    Sent to the RAE for P.1127 and general VTOL research including trials.

    25 April 1966

    Demonstrated at Hanover airshow, West Germany, returning to Dunsfold.

    15 December 1967

    To UK Ministry of Technology, Boscombe Down.
    Sold to the Ministry of Technology.

    28 June 1971

    No longer required and allocation for firefighting practice requested. Airframe still at A and AEE Boscombe Down at this date.

    By January 1974

    Stored dismantled in the open at Farnborough.

    Circa May 1974

    Loaned to Royal Navy Engineering College, Manadon, (Plymouth), Devon.
    Loaned minus engine.

    Restored.
    Rebuilt for RAFM as apprentice training exercise.

    11 April 1978

    Loaned to School of Aircraft Handling, HMS Sea Hawk, Culdrose, Cornwall.

    Notes: Hawker Siddeley Kestrel FGA.1 XS695 of the Royal Navy parked at RNAS Culdrose in July 1983. Built for the RAF in 1965 and one of only nine Kestrels built for evaluation she was written off in 1967 after a landing accident at Boscombe Down. She was in use here as a ground instructional trainer and is presently displayed with the RAF Museum at RAF Cosford

    Operated by RAF Wyton, Cambs.
    Sent to Wyton for temporary storage due to impending closure of RAF Cardington.

    19 November 2001

    Transported by ground. Delivered to Royal Air Force Museum, Cosford, Cosford Airport, Wolverhampton, Shropshire/Shrops, England.
    Moved by road from RAF Wyton to RAF Cosford.

    From 2012 to 2014

    Restored.

    January 2014

    Placed on display.
    The only surviving Hawker-Siddeley Kestrel in the UK.
