    Constructed as a F-106A-CO by Convair at San Diego, California, USA.
    38th F-106 produced by Convair at San Diego, CA.

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Air Force with s/n 57-0240.

    28 December 1958

    To Air Force Logisitcs Command (AFLC), Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH.
    Retained for testing.

    1959

    Converted to a F-106C.
    Modified to test the new AN/ASG-18 radar housing with a five-foot nose extension following the cancellation of the Model 8-28/29 project. F-106A 57-0239 was the second aircraft used for this C-model project. They were re-designated F-106C. Only 57-0239 actually flew in this configuration, and made ten flights with this new nose in 1959.

    Converted to a F-106A-CO by Convair at San Diego, California, USA.

    No. 8 of 35 TEST-TO-TAC conversions.

    To 27th FIS, Bangor Air Defense Sector, Loring AFB ME.

    Transferred to 95th FIS, 20th Air Division, Dover AFB de.

    Transferred to 119th FIS, 177th FIG, New Jersey ANG, Atlantic City ANGB, NJ.
