    Constructed as a Vulcan B.2.

    23 August 1962

    First flight.
    From Woodford.

    September 1962

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Royal Air Force with s/n XL426.

    13 September 1962

    Transferred to 83SQN, RAF Scampton.
    Wing Commander John Slessor selected XL426 as his personal aircraft for his three-year tour, and she bore the squadron commander pennant painted below her cockpit.

    10 September 1963

    On September 10th, 1963, whilst returning from Goose Bay, Canada, John Slessor flew XL426 to RAF Scampton in 4 hours 5 minutes - an unofficial record, pre-Concorde, for a crossing of the North Atlantic at that time.

    April 1964

    Transferred to Scampton Wing, RAF Scampton.

    Circa 1971

    Transferred to 617SQN, RAF Scampton.

    From Circa January 1982 to 30 March 1984

    Transferred to 50SQN, RAF Waddington.
