Janet B.Splain reports (25 November 2012): My husband, Mark Splain, bought N59220 from Ralph Buffkin a collector of antic cars and planes. He bought the plane in the late spring or summer of 1973. It was a memorable part of his early adult life, he will always be flying that plane in his heart. He was devastated when he had to sell it because he got transferred to Japan. He was a Captain in the Marine Corp. He, in visions of when he dies, will fly the N59220 into the eternities. A note: He always felt the plane was built in 1942. He said it had a little plaque of some sort stating that fact. He thinks it may have got lost in the crash that we read about.
