    Lon Moer comments (3 November 2019): N3451D was a custom ordered build from Cavalier by Frank Christiansen (of Eagle biplane fame) and used for a series of Cavalier Promo pictures.

The sky conditions were clear. The visibility was 5 or over (unlimited). The temperature was 65 degF. The wind velocity was 30 knots. The weather conditions were VFR...

    Competed at the California National Air Races in the Unlimited class. The primary pilot was Robert Love. Qualified in 13th place with an average speed of 342.21 mph. Raced in the Consolation race. Finished in 6th place with an average speed of 323.47 mph.

    Raced as #96.
    Competed at the Lincoln Air Race in the Unlimited class. The primary pilot was Bob Love. Raced in the One Mile Course race. Finished in 1st place with an average speed of 245.39 mph.

    Competed at the National Championship Air Races in the Unlimited class. The primary pilot was Bob Love from San Jose, CA. Qualified in 9th place with an average speed of 342.86 mph. Raced in the Reserve race. Finished in 3rd place with an average speed of 351.22 mph.

Distracted by oil temp in red. Incident occurred at or near Tallahassee, FL.
