    1949

    Constructed as a Meteor T.7 by Gloster at Hucclecote, Glos.

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Royal Air Force with s/n WA634.

    7 March 1951

    Transferred to Aeroplane and Armament Experimental Establishment, Moreton Valence Airfield.
    Allotted to the AAEE for tropical cockpit cooling trials, initially at Glosters Moreton Valence airfield. Had still flown only 8 hours.

    17 April 1951

    Ferried from Moreton Valence to Aeroplane and Armament Experimental Establishment, Boscombe Down, Hampshire for further trials including hot climate trials at Khartoum in the Sudan.

    18 January 1952

    Transferred to Martin Baker Aircraft Co Ltd, Higher Denham near Uxbridge, Middlesex.
    Sent to Martin Baker for ejection seat trials.

    Converted to a Meteor T.7/8.

    April 1962

    Withdrawn for major servicing following test flight at the end of the month.

    By 11 April 1962

    The aircrame had flown 323.45 hours (935 landings) and made 670 ejections.

    6 September 1962

    Struck off Strength/Charge from the Royal Air Force.

    Transferred to Chalgrove, Oxon.
    Designated for spares use at Chalgrove.

    Notes: WA634 - Meteor T.7 - Martin Baker - Chalgrove -Used exclusively as a trials aircraft by the A and AEE at Boscombe Down (Nov 49 - Jan 52) and Martin Baker (Jan 52 - Aug 62), the airframe has some notable events in its history. Cockpit cooling trials in Sudan, 1951; fitted with the rear fuselage of Meteor T.8 to overcome stability issues; first live ground level ejection (Sqn Ldr JS Fifield, August 55); ejection seat demonstrations at the Battle of Britain air shows at Biggin Hill and Benson (Sep 57); demonstrated a runway ejection at Hanover air show (Rolf Bullwinkel, May 58). Struck-off in September 1962, the airframe was purchased by Martin Baker and continued to be used on ejection trials until December 1967

    Transported by ground. Delivered to Station Museum, RAF Saint Athan.
    Moved to Saint Athan by No.71MU at Bicester. Displayed by the Station Museum on behalf of the RAF Museum.

    To Royal Air Force Museum, Cosford, Cosford, Shropshire, England.
