    Certificate of airworthiness for NX254SF (HAWKER FB60, 37514) issued.

    16 April 1996

    Crashed.
    There was one fatality. The accident occurred at the Lakeland Linder Regional Airport (LAL) Lakeland, FL, United States while landing. The damage was substantial. Witnesses observed that the tailwheel equipped airplane landed on the runway with a right crosswind. It touched down on the main gear and decelerated to a three-point attitude. The airplane was observed to veer to the right and the tail section became airborne (raised off the surface)...

    The pilot, Charles Hillard, very unfortunately perished in the crash.

    The work was carried out at New Smyrna Beach, FL.

    Transported by ground.
    Moved from New Smyrna Beach to Breckenridge, TX.

    Restoration completed.

    Competed at the National Championship Air Races in the Unlimited class. The primary pilot was Nelson Ezell from Breckenridge, TX. Qualified in 21st place with an average speed of 383.456 mph. Raced in Heat 1C. Finished in 1st place with an average speed of 381.816 mph. Raced in Heat 2D. Finished in 2nd place with an average speed of 376.512 mph. Raced in Heat 3D. Finished in 5th place with an average speed of 383.868 mph. Raced in the Consolation race. Finished in 4th place with an average speed of 393.089 mph.

Finished in 1st place with an average speed of 383.456 mph.

    Competed at the National Championship Air Races in the Unlimited class. The primary pilot was Joseph P Thibodeau from Denver, CO. Qualified in 13th place with an average speed of 396.005 mph. Raced in Heat 1B. Finished in 1st place with an average speed of 386.543 mph. Started Heat 2C, but did not finish. Raced in Heat 3D. Finished in 6th place with an average speed of 370.983 mph. Raced in the Consolation race. Finished in 1st place with an average speed of 388.272 mph.
