    Competed at the National Air Races Los Angeles in the Midget Class. The primary pilot was Howard Terrill. Raced in the One Mile Course race. No time was recorded and finished in 5th place. Cut for pylons, so no time was recorded.

    From 21 September 1966 to 26 September 1966

    Raced as #5, named Shushonick.
    Appeared at the National Championship Air Races to compete in the F1 class, but did not qualify. The primary pilot was Dan Lawson. Raced in Heat 1B. Finished in 4th place with an average speed of 170.21 mph. Raced in the Reserve race. Finished in 4th place with an average speed of 167.38 mph.

    Notes: 1966 saw the debut of a new 190 cubic inch class racer named Shushonik. It was flown by Howard Terrill during the 1966 season. This airplane was later flown by Sal Lanese and named Deja Vu. Bob Pauley took this photo at the 1966 Reno Air Races.

    Competed at the National Championship Air Races in the Formula One class. The primary pilot was Dan Lawson. Qualified in 8th place with an average speed of 172.41 mph. Raced in Heat 1B. Finished in 6th place with an average speed of 168.94 mph. Raced in Heat 2B. Finished in 5th place with an average speed of 168.19 mph. Raced in the Reserve race. Finished in 3rd place with an average speed of 166.85 mph.

    Arrived after the completion of the time trials but was allowed to race. Appeared at the National Air Races Maryland to compete in the F1 class, but did not qualify. The primary pilot was Howard Terrill. Raced in Heat 1B. Finished in 5th place with an average speed of 185.21 mph. Raced in Heat 2B. Finished in 4th place with an average speed of 188.73 mph. Raced in the Reserve race. Finished in 1st place with an average speed of 196.91 mph.

    Raced as #5.
    Competed at the National Air Races Cleveland in the Formula One class. The primary pilot was Howard Terrill. Qualified in 8th place with an average speed of 187.50 mph. Raced in Heat 1B. Finished in 4th place with an average speed of 177.91 mph. Raced in Heat 2C. Finished in 3rd place with an average speed of 180.09 mph. Started the Reserve race, but did not finish.

    Tom Aberle comments (circa 2018): I believe this airplane was not very successful as a 190 cu in racer so he put an O-290 and an Aeromatic prop on it and sport flew the airplane, called it Poopsie Doll. It was sold to friend Bob Higee and was kept in my Dads hangar at Compton, CA.

    Timothy Weinschenker comments (circa 2018): Tom - I think you are right. In 1971 I think the ownership passed on to Sal Lanese I believe. He modified the tail surfaces to try and cure a porpoising problem.

    Competed at the National Championship Air Races in the Formula One class. The primary pilot was Sal Lanese. Qualified in 4th place with an average speed of 208.90 mph. Raced in Heat B. Finished in 6th place with an average speed of 185.21 mph. Raced in the Reserve race. Finished in 2nd place with an average speed of 197.03 mph.

    To correct a porpoising issue, modifications included a new canopy design and an increase of the tail surfaces.

    Competed at the Florida National Air Races in the Formula One class. The primary pilot was Sal Lanese. Qualified in 12th place with an average speed of 190.07 mph. Raced in Heat 1B. Finished in 3rd place with an average speed of 193.28 mph. Raced in the Reserve race. Finished in 2nd place with an average speed of 199.86 mph.

    Competed at the Wilson Regional Air RAces in the Formula One class. The primary pilot was Sal Lanese. Qualified in 6th place with an average speed of 193.0 mph. Did not start in Heat 1. Raced in Heat B. Finished in 3rd place with an average speed of 196.0 mph. Raced in the Reserve race. Finished in 1st place with an average speed of 185.4 mph.
