    Constructed as a P-40N-1-CU by Curtiss at Buffalo, NY.

    Circa 1942

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n 42-104827.
    This airframe was the 2nd to last P-40N-1 built. It is unclear if this airframe was actually taken on strength by the USAAF or the assignment of the USAAF serial number was merely a paperwork exercise in preparation for a foreign military sale/transfer.

    July 1943

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Royal Australian Air Force with s/n A29-414 as a Kittyhawk IV.

    3 August 1943

    Transferred to 78 Squadron.
    Operated with markings: Come In Suckers, HU Z !

    Transferred to 2 AD.

    Transferred to 11 RSU.
    Sent to 11 RSU for an engine change.

    11 April 1944

    Transferred to 78 Squadron.
    Returned to 78 Squadron.

    25 April 1944

    Crashed.
    Crashed on landing in poor conditions at Tadji airstrip. Came to rest overturned.

    25 April 1944

    Pushed off to the side of the runway and stripped and abandoned., overgrown by vegetation).

    26 June 1944

    Approval given to convert the remains to components.

    Discovered.

    To Robert Greinert, Sydney, NSW.

    Recovered.
    Recovered by Robert Greinert and shipped to Australia.

    To Pioneer Aero Restorations Ltd/Garth Hogan, Auckland, NZ.

    Moved from Australia to NZ.

    Restoration to flying condition started at the Auckland-Ardmore airport. Originally the plan was to restore the airframe in the original markings of A29-414.
