Raced as #15, named LAST LAP PLAYER. Report from the team by Jay Jones: Creighton King, who was on my crew last year, bought this Cassutt in Minnesota. Creighton has rebuilt the cowling, sand blasted, repainted and recovered the fuselage, and refinished the plane. The redo was started just 6 months before the races. Competed at the National Championship Air Races in the Formula One class. The primary pilot was Jay D Jones from Buena Vista, CO. Qualified in 9th place with an average speed of 175.105 mph. Raced in Heat 1B. Finished in 2nd place with an average speed of 160.523 mph. Raced in Heat 2C. Finished in 1st place with an average speed of 156.629 mph. Raced in Heat 3D. Finished in 2nd place with an average speed of 167.081 mph. |
