    Constructed as a Special.
    Keith Sorenson and Mike Argander started construction of this airframe, known as the Argander Special. It was only about 25 percent complete when Mike Arganer perished testing one of Art Chesters designs. It remained untouched for a few months then the construction was completed in 1949.

    Placed second at the Cleveland Air Races.

    Raced as #39.
    Competed at the Fort Wayne Air Races in the Continental Motors race. The primary pilot was Mel Stickney. Raced in the One Mile Course race. Finished in 6th place with an average speed of 187.82 mph.

    From 6 September 1965 to 12 September 1965

    Raced as #39, named Deerfly.
    Competed at the National Championship Air Races in the Formula One class. The primary pilot was Bob Porter. Qualified in 2nd place with an average speed of 203.16 mph. Raced in Heat 2B. Finished in 1st place with an average speed of 196.67 mph. Raced in the Trophy race. Finished in 1st place with an average speed of 202.14 mph.

    Competed at the Palm Springs International Aeroclassic in the Continental Motors race. The primary pilot was Bob Porter. Raced in the B Feature race. Finished in 2nd place with an average speed of 201.64 mph.
