Bradley Haskin comments (1 November 2019): Wasa Hooker, N20SF was a German Navy target tug. VZ350. It was imported through Doug Arnold to John Stokes in Texas. Bill Harrison purchased it and raced it at Reno as #3 (the first Tmk. 20 to ever race) in 1978, as well as flying it at Airsho 78 at Harlingen (which is where the photos of it are from). Harrison sold it to a doctor named Robert Friedman in Illinois in December 1978. Friedman had it less than two weeks when he torque rolled it on takeoff and crashed fatally. The airframe was (for 1978 standards) a total write-off.broken into sevaral twisted pieces.and taken off of the FAA register. |
