    Constructed as a PBV-1A by Canadian Vickers.

    From 5 April 1944 to 25 May 1961

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Royal Canadian Air Force with s/n 11060.

    To Frontier Air Transport Company.

    Circa April 1961

    To Canspec Air Transport Ltd, Calgary ALTA with new c/r CF-NJD.

    January 1963

    To Firefly Inc, Portland, OR.

    February 1963

    Converted.
    Ferried Calgary to Victoria BC for conversion by Fairey Aviation to Steward-Davis Super Catalina with Wright R-2600 engines and squared enlarged tail. During the overhaul the aircraft was fitted with tank for water or chemicals as a fire tanker.

    November 1963

    To Firefly Inc, Portland Oregon with new c/r N609FF (PBY-5A, 369).

    1964

    Leased to Cal-Nat Airways, Grass Valley California.

    27 February 1964

    To Firefly Inc, Portland, OR keeping c/r N609FF.

    Operated as fire service #E40.

    1965

    Leased to Barringer Research/Terra Surveys Ltd, Ottawa ONT.
    Fitted for magnetometer mineral survey.

    1 November 1969

    Noted withdrawn from use at Johannesburg, South Africa.

    25 August 1972

    Civil registration, N609FF, cancelled.
    Exported to Australia.

    30 August 1972

    To Terra Surveys/Executive Air Services with new c/r VH-EXG.
    Operating mineral survey flights around Australia.

    To Western Commander, Melbourne Vic, Operated for Geoterrex Surveys keeping c/r VH-EXG.

    Notes: Geoterrex operated their magnificent Catalina VH-EXG on mineral survey contracts until it was retired at Essendon in 1987.Built in 1944 by Boeing Canada as a PBV-1A Canso A and used by RCAF until 1961 when sold by Canadian disposals, it was later modified with more powerful Wright R-2800s and redesigned tail as a Steward Davis Super Catalina.Seen at Perth in June 1985 when it was parked for two months between survey jobs.

    And stored at Melbourne Essendon.
