    Constructed as a L-4J by Piper.
    Manufactured by Piper Aircraft of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania

    3 July 1945

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army with s/n 45-5060.

    13 July 1945

    It was shipped by rail to Alameda, California, on July 13, 1945, and departed San Francisco by ship on August 2, 1945, and was sent to the Pacific theater of operations.

    July 1948

    To L. C. Pleger with new c/r NC1227N.

    7 July 1956

    Certificate of airworthiness for N1227N (J3C-65, 13800) issued.

    Redesignated as J-3C-65.

    From 1968 to 2011

    To Jim Hayden with new c/r N1227N.

    From 1968 to 2011

    Withdrawn from use.
    The wings were damaged in a wind storm- and the aircraft was stored in a barn in Idaho for the next 42 years.

    2011

    Restoration started.
