    Constructed as a S.25.

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Royal Air Force with s/n VB880.

    6 September 1953

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Royal New Zealand Air Force with s/n NZ4111 and operated with these markings: KN-D.

    30 May 1959

    Took part in flypast to mark opening of the Auckland Harbour Bridge.

    4 November 1959

    Crashed.
    Summary: The airframe was written off. This was a military flight. The accident occurred at Te Whanga Lagoon, Chatham Island (New Zealand) while taxiing. Narrative: After offloading passengers and cargo, the aircraft was taxiing to the start of the take-off run when the fuselage hit an uncharted rock. Although the aircraft was able to be beached under its own power, damage was so severe that the Sunderland never flew again.
