    The race was from Milwaukee, WI, to Reno. Competed at the National Championship Air Races in the Harolds Club Transcontinental race. The primary pilot was Bob Kucera. Raced in the One Mile Course race. Finished in 4th place with an average speed of 264.21 mph.

    The aircraft had been modified for photographic purposes, but was essentially stock. There was some airframe cleanup. As well a small tail cone was added. Competed at the National Championship Air Races in the Unlimited class. The primary pilot was Bob Kucera. Qualified in 7th place with an average speed of 311.93 mph. Raced in Heat B. Finished in 4th place with an average speed of 326.23 mph. Raced in the Reserve race. Finished in 1st place with an average speed of 331.85 mph.

Incident occurred at the Lost Nation Airport, Willoughby, OH. The engine failed or malfunctioned during the initial climb. Collided with trees on touch down. There was complete power loss in the failure of one engine. The emergency circumstances included; forced off-airport landing on land...
