    May 1962

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Marine Corps with BuNo 149798.

    Circa June 1962

    Transferred to Naval Air Transport Squadron 3 (VR-3), McGuire AFB, NJ.
    Operated with markings: 9798

    18 September 1962

    Redesignated as KC-130F.

    8 October 1963

    Loaned to Naval Air Transport Squadron 1 (VR-1), NAS Patuxent River, MD.
    Markings changed to: LOOK MA, NO HOOK

    From 10 October 1963 to 22 November 1963

    Used for carrier trials aboard USS Forrestal. In 1963 made 29 touch and go landings, 21 unassisted full stop landings and 21 unassisted take-offs. Largest and heaviest plane to land on US Navy aircraft carrier.

    Circa December 1963

    Transferred to Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 252 (VMGR-252), MCAS Miramar, CA.
    Operated with markings: BH

    Deployed to South Vietnam is support of combat operations.

    By February 1987

    Transferred to Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 152 (VMGR-152), MCAS Iwakuni, Japan.

    By 1990

    Transferred to Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 352 (VMGR-352), MCAS El Toro (later Miramar), CA.
    Operated with markings: 798, QB

    From Circa September 1990 to February 1991

    Flew support missions in Operation Desert Storm.

    November 2001

    First aircraft to land at Expeditionary Air Field Rhino during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

    Used on a low-altitude night helicopter refueling mission and to insert elements of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Units battalion landing team near the Pakistan border during Operation Enduring Freedom.
