    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Navy with BuNo 14694.

    October 1945

    Transferred to Mustin Field.
    Used as a test airframe at Mustin.

    From Unknown to May 1947

    Transferred to NAS Patuxent.
    Used as a test airframe at Patuxent.

    Converted to a XF2G-1 by Goodyear.

    31 May 1947

    Struck off Strength/Charge from the United States Navy.

    To Ron Puckett with new c/r N91092.
    Joe Baugher: Ron Puckett was a Navy test pilot and also familiar with the F2Gs Ron acquired his F2-G in time to enter the 1947 Thompson Trophy Race with a stock airplane. At that time #18 still had the original sub-rudder.

    From 30 August 1947 to 1 September 1947

    Raced as #18.
    Competed at the National Air Races Cleveland in the Thompson Trophy Reciprocating Division race. The primary pilot was Ron Puckett. Qualified in 7th place with an average speed of 371.415 mph. Started the B Feature race, but did not finish. An official failed to give Ron an adequate start warning and didnt start the race until the other racers had completed the first lap. Despite this Ron was able to move up to 3rd place, but on the 19th lap Ron the race when engine problems forced him to land.

    Notes: Ron Pucketts F2G at the 1949 Cleveland Air Races. I believe that this is also a Harold G. Martin image but it was acquired from the Randy Smith Collection.

    Joe Baugher: After the 1949 race, Ron sold his F2G to a broker who had a customer for the R-4360 engine. Ron believes the airplane was scrapped.

    Raced as #18, named Miss Port Columbus.
    Competed at the National Air Races Cleveland in the SOHIO class. The primary pilot was Ron Puckett. Qualified in 6th place with an average speed of 373.523 mph. Raced in the B Feature race. Finished in 2nd place with an average speed of 384.888 mph.

    From 3 September 1949 to 5 September 1949

    Raced as #18, named Miss Port Columbus.
    Qualified as an alternate. Competed at the National Air Races Cleveland in the Thompson Trophy Reciprocating Division race. The primary pilot was Ron Puckett. Qualified in 11th place with an average speed of 373.523 mph. Raced in the B Feature race. Finished in 2nd place with an average speed of 393.527 mph.

    Civil registration, N91092, cancelled.
