    Constructed as a P-47C-2-RE by Republic at Farmindale, New York, USA.

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n 42-8066 and operated with these markings: Carters Lil Pill.

    Assigned to 1st Lt. William Otto Carter, Jr.

    Markings Applied: 420866

    1 October 1943

    Crashed.
    Force landing with wheels up, in Fairfax swamp near Port Moresby - only minor damage, but aircraft abandoned.

    From 1966 to 1968

    Recovered.

    From 1969 to Circa 1972

    After salvage, this P-47 was stored at the South Pacific Motor Sports Club (SPMSC) in Port Moresby then outside at The Air Museum of Papua New Guinea (AMPNG) until the early 1970s.

    Circa 1972

    Remains removed to Museum of Transport and Technology in Auckland, New Zealand.

    Circa 1995

    Until 1995, the P-47 was stored disassembled inside the RNZAF Weedons facility. During 1995, the P-47 was swapped or sold to Robert Greinert / HARS for a new built Sopwith Camel that included some original parts. The P-47 was transported as air freight aboard a RNZAF C-130 to Sydney.
