    Constructed as a P.531-2.
    One of two prototypes known as the P.531-2 were built. These were powered by the Rolls-Royce Nimbus engine (a development of the Blackburn A129) derated to 635shp. The first of these two was built at Eastleigh

    First flight.

    March 1960

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Army Air Corps with s/n XP166.

    26 February 1975

    Withdrawn from use.
    Following damage in an incident at Farnborough. Main Rotor blades struck by flying wooden debris, resulting in damage to the entire dynamic system.

    15 December 1975

    To Farnborough Apprentice School.

    12 May 1976

    Struck off Strength/Charge from the Army Air Corps.

    30 January 1995

    Sold to East Dereham.

    From 5 August 2002 to 14 June 2007

    To Russell Edward Dagless with new c/r G-APVL.

    14 June 2007

    To Christopher John Marsden, Little Whitemoor Farm, King Stag, Sturminster Newton keeping c/r G-APVL.

    18 August 2010

    Civil registration, G-APVL, cancelled.

    17 February 2011

    To Mr. C J Marsden 4 Lloyd Dunn Avenue Wanaka 9382 with new c/r ZK-HJG.
    Operated with markings: XP166
