    Circa 1970

Fredric Altman comments (16 July 2025): About 1970, my friends and I bought Matilda from Godfrey as an executive transport, but used it to import marijuana from Colombia. We ran trips from there to Tampa for a couple of years. When not flying to and from Colombia, we would fly it to Colorado and fill it with Coors beer to bring back to Tampa. At the time, you could not buy very popular Coors beer anywhere but Colorado. Filled with beer, we stopped in Midland, Texas, to refuel. As we taxied to a stop, it was like a scene from a movie with a dozen law enforcement vehicles with sirens and lights surrounding the aircraft. They were surprised to find no drugs, only beer on board. Miffed, they huddled for a while and decided they could seize the aircraft due to non-payment of alcohol tax, which is what they did.

    17 March 1977

    Crashed.
Summary: The airframe was a loss. This was an illegal flight. The accident occurred at near LaBelle, FL (United States of America) while landing. Narrative: The aircraft nosed down when landing on soft pasture terrain. A total of 4000 lbs of marijuana was found on board.
