    Notes: Original Caption: A McDonnell F-4C Phantom II (USAF s/n 63-7564) in flight near the U.S. Navy Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, California (USA). It carries the Aircraft Advanced Interdiction Weapon System (AIWS) dveloped by McDonnell Douglas and Hughes. In 1986, the U.S. Navy had started the AIWS program to develop a new precision guided short-range standoff attack weapon. Th eprogram was combined with a similar program of the USAF. The AIWS competition was won by Texas Instruments (later Raytheon), who received a contract in June 1992. The outcome was the AGM-154 JSOW.

    Converted to a QF-4C.

    28 September 1994

    Civil registration, N422FS, cancelled.

    To Area B-82, Valparaiso, FL.
    Survives here as dismantled wreckage.
