    Constructed as a P-40F by Curtiss at Buffalo, NY.

    Circa 1941

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n 41-14205.

    23 December 1942

    Crashed.
    Belly-landed on Erromango Island in the New Hebrides (now Vanuatu).

    1989

    Recovered.
    Hulk recovered - and shipped to Australia.

    1996

    To Air Force Museum, Wigram Airport, Christchurch, Canterbury, South Island.

    From Unknown to June 2013

    Restored as a P-40E.
    The work was carried out at Tyabb, Victoria, and it involved 16 years and 22,319 hours of restoration effort.
