    Constructed as a DC-3A.

    29 January 1942

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n 41-20095 as a C-53-DO.

    February 1942

    Transferred to Bolling Field, Washington, DC.

    16 March 1942

    Transferred to Ferry Command, Presque Isle Army Air Field, ME.

    April 1942

    Base of operations changed.
    Relocated to Palm Beach, FL for overseas flight.

    July 1942

    Transferred to North Atlantic Wing Air Transport Command.
    Originally named 23rd AAF Ferrying Wing.

    There is some information which says this plane was in the Pacific Theatre for a short time and that for two months it was used as General MacArthurs personal transport.

    From Circa November 1942 to Circa May 1943

    Participated in Operation Torch invasion of French North Africa.

    From Unknown to 12 May 1945

    Transferred to Cairo Division, Far East Air Force.

    3 September 1945

    To Danish Airlines (DDL), Denmark with new c/r OY-DCE.
    Operated with markings: Gorm Viking
    Purchased from War Assets.

    From September 1946 to October 1952

    To Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), Denmark keeping c/r OY-DCE.
    Markings added: Gorm Viking
    Danish Air Lines merged with SAS.

    Circa October 1952

    To Ramapo Foundry and Wheel Works, NY with new c/r N9959F.

    To Air Carriers Corporation with new c/r N34D.

    To E. T. Barwick Mills, GA keeping c/r N34D.

    25 April 1955

    Certificate of airworthiness for N34D (DC3, 4865) issued.

    June 1963

    To Houston Aircraft Sales Incorporated, Houston, TX keeping c/r N34D.

    October 1964

    To Ohio State Department of Commerce, Columbus, OH keeping c/r N34D.
    Was used primarily as the Ohio governors aircraft, using call sign Ohio One.

    From September 1977 to 1992

    To National Museum of the United States Air Force, Wright Field, Dayton, OH.

    To Ohio University, Athens, OH with new c/r N34DF.
    Aircraft remained at NMUSAF, but engines were removed for use on Ohio University DC-3.

    10 October 1990

    To Kenneth W. Joseph, Canton, OH keeping c/r N34DF.
    Remained on display with National Museum of the USAF until 1992.

    1992

    Mr. Joseph purchased new engines and restored the aircraft to flying condition for ferry permit and flew the plane to Beach City, OH.

    Based at Beach City Airport, Beach City, OH.
