Modified and Used in TIPTOW wing tip experiments in 1949 and 1950 at Wright Field with C-47 42-23918 as the tow plane. 231+ test couplings (56 at night) with 17 pilots involved. Longest coupled flight lasted 4.08 hours (Joe Baugher). Primary Pilot was Maj. C.E. Anderson, P-51 Ace with 15 kills; 8 other pilots made fewer flights. |
