    Constructed as an AH-1G-BF by Bell at Fort Worth, Texas, USA.

    November 1967

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army with s/n 66-15327.

    December 1967

    To Supply and Transport, Sharpe Army Depot, CA.

    February 1968

    Transferred to D Troop, 229th Assault Helicopter Brigade, 1st CAV., South Vietnam.

    12 March 1968

    Damaged.
    While providing armed escort for other helicopters, AH-1G 66-15327 was flying at 700 feet and 140 knots when it was hit 3 times by an enemy 14.5mm weapon, likely a KPV heavy machine gun. The rounds struck 66-15327s Main Rotor Blade System, landing skids and airframe, damaging all three. 66-15327 remained on station and completed all mission objectives.

    3 April 1968

    Damaged.
    While on a Close Air Support (CAS) mission, AH-1H 66-15327 was attacking a target at 600 feet and 120 knots when it was hit by an enemy 7.62mm round in the Main Rotor Blade System. AH-1H 66-15327 was able to successfully return to base and was repaired.

    29 April 1968

    Damaged.
    While on an armed escort mission for other helicopters, AH-1H 66-15327 was attacking a ground target at 100 feet and 110 knots when it took 3 hits from an enemy 7.62mm weapon. The rounds struck the airframe and damaged the Main Rotor Blade System, structure and the weapons pylons. AH-1H 66-15327 was able to successfully return to base and was repaired.

    Transferred to 355th Aviation Company, Phu Hiep, South Vietnam.

    9 May 1968

    Damaged.
    While on an armed escort mission for other helicopters in South Vietnam, AH-1H 66-15327 was attacking a ground target when it took 5 hits from an enemy 7.62mm caliber weapon. The rounds hit on the left side, damaging the driveshaft, main rotor system and the weapons pylons.

    Transferred to OPM SEA NITEOPS, 1st Army, Fort Belvoir, VA.

    August 1968

    Transferred to 229th Assault Helicopter Brigade, 1st CAV., South Vietnam.

    July 1969

    Transferred to 20th Transportation Company, South Vietnam.

    October 1969

    Transferred to C Troop, 7th Squadron, 17th Air CAV., South Vietnam.

    February 1971

    Transferred to 142nd Transportation Company, South Vietnam.

    From February 1971 to March 1971

    Flew during the Battle of Lam Son 719.

    13 February 1971

    Shot down.
    During the Battle of Lam Son 719, AH-1H 66-15327 was on an armed recon mission when it was hit by an unknown number of enemy 12.7mm rounds. These rounds struck the airframe, damaging the engine, airframe, tail rotor, fuel and hydraulic systems. The helicopter made a forced landing and was later recovered by any means other than its ownpower back to Khe Shan.

    March 1974

    Transferred to Supply Division, 5th Army, Fort Hood, TX.

    May 1974

    Transferred to Installation Maintenance Flight (INST MAINT FLT), 1st Army, Fort Campbell, KY.

    October 1974

    Transferred to 101st Airborne Division, 1st Army, Fort Campbell, KY.

    Circa 1988

    Converted to an AH-1F.
