    Constructed as a F-84F-35-GK by General Motors-Fisher Body at Kansas, City, Missouri.

    Circa 1952

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Air Force with s/n 51-9495.

    From 1954 to 1957

    Transferred to 31st Strategic Fighter Wing, Turner AFB, GA.

    1957

    Transferred to 4405th Air Control Squadron.

    Transferred to 31st Strategic Fighter Wing, Turner AFB, GA.

    Transferred to 401st Fighter Bomber Group, England AFB, LA.

    Transferred to 366th Fighter Bomber Wing, Alexandria AFB, LA.

    Transferred to 170th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 183rd Tactical Fighter Group, Illinois ANG, Springfield, IL.

    1963

    Transferred to 15th Tactical Fighter Wing, USAF, MacDill AFB, FL.

    Transferred to 170th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 183rd Tactical Fighter Group, Illinois ANG, Springfield, IL.

    Served initially in Europe with the 170th and wearing a similar bare aluminum finish to what she wears today, 51-9495 formed part of the group of Special Delivery Squadrons that stood on 24hr alert for nuclear strike missions on Soviet or Warsaw Pact targets through 1962. Returned stateside and spending its remaining years flying out of Capital Airport, 51-9495 was eventually painted in Vietnam War-era camouflage markings as the 170th trained pilots for deployment to Southeast Asia.     April 1972

    Struck off Strength/Charge from the United States Air Force.
    Retired with the rest of the ANG F-84F fleet after wing fatigue was discovered in 1971, 51-9495 was relocated to Eglin to serve as a live fire range target in 1972. Spared this ignominious fate, 51-9495 was selected for preservation and brought by helicopter to the museum grounds from its location on the Eglin ranges. (Wikimapia).
