    Constructed as a NA-265-50.
    Aircraft was constructed using a production -40 Sabreliner fuselage and mating it to T-39 wings, thereby providing wings with hardpoints and ability to pull plus and minus g-forces for military avionics testing. Was only model 50 built.

    To North American with c/r N125NA.
    Assigned this registration for production flight purposes.

    Used for testing military avionics, terrain-following radar, and guidance systems, including making bombing runs with dummy bombs. Those with the program nicknamed the plane Project Alpha, although no markings were applied.

    17 June 1992

    Crashed.
    The accident occurred at the Cedar Rapids Municipal Airport (CID) Cedar Rapids, IA, United States while landing. The damage was substantial. The airplane completed an ils approach to runway 27 and requested to circle to land runway 13. The tower was reporting wind as two five zero at two one. On landing the second pilot was unable to stop the airplane on the runway...

    From 23 January 2013 to 29 January 2013

    Ferry flight. Delivered to Evergreen Aviation Space Museum.
    Due to all external equipment, aircraft was required to have two fuel stops. Ferry permit allowed only daylight VFR flight. Mechanical delay forced overnight at first stop. Weather forced a 4-day delay at Portland, OR.

    Much of the information used to document this history was obtained by Glenn Chatfield from the Rockwell-Collins Flight department in Cedar Rapids, IA.
