    Constructed as a F-86D-55-NA by North American at Inglewood, California, USA.

    Circa 1953

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Air Force with s/n 53-0750.

    Circa 1956

    Converted to a F-86L.

    Circa 1958

    Transferred to 124th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (ANG), 132nd Fighter-Interceptor Group, Des Moines, IA.

    January 1963

    Struck off Strength/Charge from the United States Air Force.

    1963

    To University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA.

    By 1972

    To Arnold Air Society.
    The Arnold Air Society was an honorary group within the Air Force ROTC at the University of Iowa.

    1972

    Restored.
    Aircraft was displayed at the Iowa City Airport, dedicated to Vietnam War POW and MIAs on 14 Oct 1972.

    By 1977

    Operated by Iowa City Airport Commission, IA.

    1977

    The aircraft had deteriorated and was moved to a salvage yard in Coralville, IA, with wings and tail sawed off. On Apr 21, 1977 veterans groups challenged the Airport Commissions decision, and the Commission agreed to let the aircraft be refurbished and be placed at the Airport as part of a memorial for all wars.

    From 1977 to December 1977

    Restored.
    Aircraft was restored by All Iowa Body of Cedar Rapids.

    From 1977 to April 1978

    Aircraft remained with All Iowa Body shop until ownership was determined so as to assign maintenance responsibility.

    Markings Applied: US AIR FORCE, 30750

    24 April 1978

    Placed on display.
    Aircraft placed on display mounted in new war memorial area.

    10 May 1978

    Damaged.
    Aircraft was vandalized by anti-military person, with paint spatter. On Aug 31, 1978 the judgment against the vandal led to questioning the ownership and responsibility of the plane. The AFROTC, airport commission, the city, and even the University had been responsible at one time or another. No decision was made at that time as to ownership.

    December 1978

    Damaged.
    Another vandal spattered the plane with several cans of paint, and the broke canopy.

    1980

    Repaired.
    Aircraft was given a new paint job and repaired the canopy.

    April 1992

    To National Museum of the United States Air Force Loan Program, Wright Field, Dayton, OH.

    Loaned to City of Iowa City, IA.
    Responsibility for the aircraft was assigned to the airport commission.

    Placed on display with Iowa City Municipal Airport, Universal Heights, IA.

    1996

    The Iowa City Airport Commission proposed moving the aircraft about 15 miles NW to Greencastle Airport, apparently desiring to get out of the responsibility for the aircraft. Johnson County veterans groups at this time took responsibility for the aircrafts upkeep, and the aircraft was then moved to its current location, mounted at the airport entrance.

    Restored.
    Canopy buffed out, painted surfaces cleaned up and metal polished.
