    Constructed as a H-34A.

    7 January 1958

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army with s/n 56-4320.

    1958

    Converted to a VH-34A.
    The aircraft was modified from its original version to accommodate the transportation of the president, which included stripping the interior and outfitting it with carpeting, airplane seating, curtains and air conditioning. Flotation devices were also added in case of an over-water crash.

    From 1958 to 1963

    Transferred to U. S. Army Executive Flight Detachment, Davison Army Airfield, Fort Belvoir, VA.
    Operated as Army One presidential until replaced by CH-3.

    From 1958 to 1963

    Saw a multitude of passengers from presidents, including Eisenhower and John F. Kennedy, to celebrities like Marylyn Monroe, to foreign dignitaries like Nikita Khrushchev, premier for the Soviet Union, and Francisco Franco, former prime minister of Spain.

    By January 1962

    Converted to a VH-34C.

    By 1964

    Transferred to HQ, 50th Artillery Group, Snelling AFB. Saint. Paul, MN.

    July 1966

    Struck off Strength/Charge from the United States Army.
    SOC at Snelling AFB.

    December 1982

    To United States Army Aviation Museum, Fort Rucker, Enterprise, AL.
